Case Management

  • While your child is in the hospital, there may be a case manager who works behind the scenes to take care of insurance, coordinate discharge services, etc. Their services typically are only associated with the inpatient stay, although some hospitals may have case managers that provide assistance once you leave the hospital too.
  • Your insurance company (check both if you have primary and secondary insurance) may also have a case manager that is available to you. This case manager would provide assistance while your child is primarily out of the hospital and can help you get secondary insurance, obtain nursing services, find a pediatrician, identify support services, assist with insurance billing issues, etc.
  • This service may be discontinued when "things are quiet," but you can always ask to have the services renewed when you need assistance.
