- OSX
- Fedora
- Ubuntu
- Ubuntu (64 bit)
- Gentoo (unsupported)
Important: If you have a previous version installed, follow the updating directions below first!!
First download the latest emergent-mac zip file. Make sure to pick the one for your architecture. If you have a new mac, it is likely to be intel. If you have an old mac, it is likely to be ppc. Then unpack the zip file (double click on it in the Finder, or using StuffIt Expander). You should now see a mac package installer (icon is a opened box). After you double-click on it, you will be walked through the installation steps. When it finishes you can find emergent.app in your /Applications folder.

Updating
In order to update emergent on OSX, you first need to install the DesInstaller tool for removing OSX packages. Click on the magnifying glass after you open it, and then scroll down to emergent, and remove the version you had previously installed. Then download and install the new version, and you should be all set.
