Building and Installing Emergent
We produce a number of native packages and have included support for automatically generating them in our build system.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Emergent requires OpenGL 3D display support on your system. Most modern computers have this configured by default. However, virtual machines (e.g., VMWare) and other specialized systems may not have this, and they will likely crash or fail with an error message. It is possible that crashing might be avoided by manually editing the antialiasing_levels setting in ~/.emergent/options and changing it to 0 instead of 4, but it is unlikely that the 3D display will work in any case.
See System configuration after you've installed for important tips.
See ChangeLog for list of changes by release.
